Flour, Fur, and Family: Meet the Furry Bosses of Whisk and Purr

People often ask us what a typical morning looks like at Whisk and Purr. Is it all perfectly styled sourdough and aesthetic lattes? Not quite. Usually, it’s a mix of Flora’s baking experiments and a lot of feline curiosity.

While Flora is busy prepping her next creation, Toby and Maggie are usually watching from the sidelines with a look of pure confusion. In their world, when humans are kneading dough, we’re just doing the ‘giant version’ of making biscuits. It’s their favorite part of the day, and honestly, ours too.

Meet the Bosses of Whisk and Purr

Toby: The Gentle Giant (14.3 lbs)
Meet the eldest of our trio, Toby. Despite being a 14.3-pound “Gentle Giant,” he’s a true blue-and-white “scaredy-cat” at heart. He is the ultimate Mama and Papa’s boy who lives for head scratches and quiet afternoons. If you see a blue-and-white cloud napping in his signature “sploot” pose on our floor, that’s him—the quiet soul and the true heart of our home.

Maggie: The Tiny Queen of Chaos (8.8 lbs)
Next up is Maggie, our spirited calico girl. Don’t let her petite 8.8-pound frame fool you—she is the undisputed Queen of the house. Maggie is the type of cat who “helps” Flora bake by trying to taste-test the flour. Whether she’s chasing imaginary shadows or demanding snacks with a sharp meow, Maggie ensures there is never a dull moment in our kitchen.

Richie: The Resident Troublemaker (10.6 lbs)
Last but certainly not least, meet Richie. He’s our high-energy boy who thinks every open cabinet is an invitation for an adventure. Richie is currently “on vacation” (staying with his grandpa for a bit), but his personality is so big that we still feel his presence everywhere. We can’t wait to have him back to complete the “Three Musketeers” of Whisk and Purr!

If I fits, I sits… and I definitely fits (barely).

Watching Flora knead dough for her next bake, I often wonder what Toby and Maggie are thinking. In their world, it must look like we’re just doing the ‘giant human version’ of making biscuits. They watch with such intensity, as if they’re waiting for us to finally master the art of being a cat.
